A few weeks ago, I posted the following on Twitter:
What is needed is a “Truth in Broadcasting” law to prevent idiots like Fox News from peddling known falsehoods as it were the truth
I have been thinking that I should expand upon this a bit more.
First off, I would like to point out that I am not a democrat and not a republican. I think of myself as an American, and as such my views on different topics range from the very conservative to the very liberal. It all depends upon the topic, and the context of that topic.
And most important of all, what I want is the information I need to make an informed decision.
Now, I don’t mind listening to a few opinions about a given topic, especially when they are properly labeled as such.
What I don’t like is having some tv program trying to force feed their opinion, and taking things out of context, or deliberately misinterpreting things in order to reinforce the opinions that they are trying to force feed me.
Fox News has turned this into something of an art form. Having the hosts and guests on their opinion shows basically doing what folks on the internet calls trolling, and then having their very few actual news shows reporting it as fact, which then again feeds into the opinion shows to further that discussion.
In short, their slogan of “Fair & Balanced” should actually be “Deception & Misinformation”
What I would LOVE to see is a law that requires “News Channels” to actually be required to present the truth in whole, BEFORE they try to sway folks. I don’t even care if they show opposing viewpoints or not, just so long as they present the truth first.

You are correct in your commentary. Unfortunately it is the News, Politicians, Teachers, CEO’s of major companies, and most any influential person or person in an “important” position that is guilty of the very thing you speak of. That means there will likely never be such a law.
